The mission of Mother's Against Violence is to fight crime in our communities by promoting leadership, training, counseling services and workforce developmemt to at risk children and their families.
Our purpose is to preserve the lives of disadvantaged youth and their families by offering training and workforce development opportunities for the youth. Counseling services for children and adults. Behavior and anger management training. Participation in the VIDA program which promotes financial savings for individuals to buy homes, start businesses, to assist in educational costs.
Mothers Against Violence, Inc., is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization founded by visionary Patricia L. Harris following the tragic death of her eldest son Eric Antonio Matthews in 2001. Tragically her son's death was the mother's second loss of a child since her step daugther Delicia Matthews death in 1995. Both children lives were ended before age 24 due to gun violence.
In spite of the loss of our loved ones, we are committed to mending broken hearts by advocating for at risk communities, reuniting families, and increasing positive alternatives for life - rather than paths that may take life away.
Our work and efforts are dedicated to brothers, sisters, fathers, and mothers whose lives are staginated due to socio-economic strains and lack of opportunity.
We are here for you! We welcome you to our family and embrace you with the love of a new day and a new opportunity!
